Peace Pentagon Spiritual Warrior Boot Camp: Phase I Training
Spiritual Warrior Boot Camp I is designed to help you grow and develop in mind, body, and spirit. In Phase I training, we will incorporate four basic practices: Tai Chi, Qigong, Hatha Yoga, and Meditation. Tai Chi and Qigong are slow deliberate movements and breathing exercises to help balance and align the body. Hatha Yoga will take place on mats and include gentle sun salutations and yoga poses. Classes will end with group meditation in order to go inward and connect with our higher creative selves.
Course Dates & Times:
This is an 8-week course that will meet every Friday from 1:00 – 2:30.
Phase I classes will start on Friday, April 3 and continue thru Friday, May 22, 2020.
Breakdown of the Class: 90 minutes
Tai Chi: 20 min
Qigong: 20 min
Hatha Yoga: 20 min
Meditation: 30 min
Students should wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes and bring a water bottle. You should be able to walk one mile easily and without pain and be able to do 5 to 10 push-ups with knees touching. You also must be willing to walk, meditate, and practice three to five times a week on your own during the course, and eagerly commit to healthy lifestyle choices. If you have your own yoga mat, please bring it to class (otherwise, yoga mats will be supplied). Please also bring a blanket.
John Budd began practicing yoga, martial arts and Tai Chi in the 1980s while a student at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. He studied under Grandmaster Rick Ward of Blue Ridge Kung Fu. Upon graduating, John served as a pilot in the US Military. In 2008, after receiving a vision, John became a certified yoga teacher and began teaching Hatha Yoga. Today, John is a student at Wake Forest School of Divinity and lives in Roaring Gap, NC. He is the founder of Yoga Dogz, in Winston-Salem, NC, and teaches classes there. John continues to study, is a lifelong student of Zen, and enjoys seeing all people grow in mind, body, and spirit.
