Paths to Happiness: Practices to Transform Your Everyday into Joy
Happiness begins with a peaceful mind, a calm mind… and a good sense of humor. We must first learn about breath, then how the nature of the mind exists as a basis of our practice. Then, our practice becomes the basis of profound and lasting transformation in our lives and those around us.
Breathing is the basis of life and a foundational component of mindfulness and transformation practices. There is a deep connection between our body and mind, but how do our minds extend beyond the brain, and how can this capacity be harnessed to fuel our happiness on a daily basis?
Each session of this mini-retreat features a short lecture grounded in real-world stories told by our facilitator and her amicable, down-to-earth style. The concepts offered are then integrated through guided practice. Join us and experience different types of meditation techniques that are easy to learn and appropriate for folks of all faiths.
Jill Marie is a graduate from Auburn University with a B.A. in Interior Design, which she used as an interior designer for 6 years. In 1991, she started Human Nature, a hand-painted production art company. Through the years, Jill has taught yoga and meditation, performed jazz piano, and created paintings and sculptures. In 2000, Jill had her first and only child Miranda. While her daughter was young, Jill owned a coffee shop in the heart of Raleigh serving coffee, hugs and smiles for all who entered. Next, Jill started Groundwork, which offers meditation, organization, and private yoga. Currently, Jill is the Center Manager for Kadampa Center, a Buddhist temple located in Raleigh, NC.
