Patty Maher-Wade

Patty Wade was raised in Northern Virginia along with five siblings by parents who maintained a private practice in Family and Marriage Counseling. Patty was raised in the Catholic Church and attended parochial schools. She began to explore other believe systems in her twenties and thirties, and she ultimately embarked on a non-secular spiritual path in 2005. Today, her pluralistic journey continues.

Patty studied the Administration of Justice at American University in Washington, D.C., and she worked with the Supreme Court of Virginia for 30 years, from 1978 – 2008. She retired as the Clerk of the Court for the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court of Loudoun County, Virginia, serving as the court’s chief administrative officer. Patty also served on the Court’s Best Practices Committee developing strategies and negotiating family reunification in child welfare cases. She was intricately involved in the planning of Loudoun County’s new courthouse in 2001, and she assisted in the implementation of docket and calendar management programs to improve caseload efficiency.

Patty raised her family in the small village of Hamilton, Virginia. She also served her community by running for office and winning election to the Hamilton Town Council from 1984 – 1992, and again from 2007 – 2008. In addition, Patty was a member of the Hamilton Board of Zoning Appeals from 2008 – 2009. She greatly enjoyed her years of public service in Loudoun County, but after retiring from the Supreme Court of Virginia, she decided to spread her wings and explore another region of the United States.

With a desire to experience city life, Patty relocated in 2009 to the City of York, Pennsylvania. She currently serves as a board member for two inner city charter schools, and she is a member of several civic organizations. Most recently, Patty enrolled in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania’s Minor Judicial Education Board in order to seek District Justice certification and run for a judicial office. She hopes to utilize her many years of courtroom experience and mediation skills in the service of her new community.

Patty joined The Oracle Institute Board in 2011 with the desire to help manifest the Institute’s Peace Pentagon in Independence, Virginia. Patty also will assist the Board in crafting classes pertaining to social justice and conflict resolution.
